Perfect never paid me. But messy did...

Reader

Today, my 13-month-old daughter tried to stand up on her own.

She wobbled, grabbed the edge of the sofa, made a weird little grunt… and then...

boom...fell right back down on her bum.

She didn’t wait until she had “perfect balance” to try.

She didn’t run simulations or build a 90-day strategy.

She just went for it.

And we clapped for her like she just climbed Everest.

Because that’s what we do with people who try before they’re ready.

But adults?

We start thinking:

“I’ll post when it’s clearer.”
“I’ll launch once it’s perfect.”
“I’ll go all-in when I feel totally confident.”

Translation:

“I don’t want to look like I’m figuring it out.”
“I don’t want to be seen before I’m polished.”
“I’m scared of silence after I speak.”

It’s fear.

Wearing high standards like a fancy outfit.

But here’s the truth no one wants to admit:

The market doesn’t pay for your plans.
It pays for your movement.

And movement looks messy.

The first iPhone? Glitchy.
The first Tesla? Clunky.
Amazon? Just books.

No one nailed it on day one. Not even close.

But they shipped. They launched.

They learned faster than the ones still sketching ideas in private.

You don’t need more perfection.

You need more data from the real world.

Post the messy idea.

Sell the half-built program.

Say the thing that feels 20% too early.

That’s the path.

Version 1 → Feedback → Refinement → Growth.

Not : “wait → polish → overthink → nothing happens.”

So if you’ve been tweaking your program, rewriting your sales page for the 9th time, or obsessing over your IG bio…

Pause. Breathe.

Are you building something — or just stalling with style?

Because in business, perfection isn’t the goal.

Momentum is.

Start ugly. Show up.

Let people watch you figure it out.

They’re not waiting for your perfection.

They’re waiting for your courage.

And when they see it?

They’ll clap like you’re learning to stand.

Even if you fall a few times.
